Now the organisers have been forced to cancel this year's event.

In a statement, they said:"We are absolutely gutted to announce that due to the ongoing pandemic, Boardmasters can no longer take place this summer.

"This is particularly heartbreaking given the events of 2019, but the safety of everyone involved in the festival as well as the local community in Cornwall comes first."

They say the next festival will be held back in Newquay in August 2021.

It comes after the Reading and Leeds festivals were cancelled due to fears around coronavirus.

The dual festivals were due to take place between August 28 and 30 with Stormzy, Rage Against The Machine and Liam Gallagher on the bill.

Glastonbury was also axed in March after organisers said they had no choice during a period of "unprededented uncertainty".

The festival, due to set to run from June 24 – 28, had Paul McCartney, Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar as headline acts.

In March, London All Points East and Lovebox festivals were both cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis.

While Parklife in Manchester was also axed just a day after the UK’s biggest rock festival, Download, cancelled hours after the 70,000-capacity Isle of Wight festival.

In the US Coachella festival in California was postponed in light of the coronavirus pandemic, as well as Burning Man.
