Alesha MacPhail's killer 'thought about having sex with kids and dead bodies' after murdering six-year-old as jail-term is slashed

TWISTED killer Aaron Campbell had his jail term for murdering schoolgirl Alesha MacPhail slashed by three years –  despite revealing he wanted to have “sex with dead people”.

The teenager was found guilty of murdering and the raping the child, six, on Bute last summer.

Evil killer Campbell, 17, was initially caged for 27 years for his heinous crimes.

But his lawyers claimed that the sentence was "excessive" – with an appeal against the jail term heard at a court in Edinburgh last month.

Top judges have now ruled that the minimum term the killer will serve before being considered for parole will be reduced to 24 years.

Disturbing details emerged in the ruling, including Campbell telling a forensic psychologist that he continued to fantasise about paedophilia and necrophilia.

Psychologist Dr Macpherson said: "He reported that he continued to experience thoughts of killing and having sex with children and having sex with dead bodies.

He reported that he continued to experience thoughts of killing and having sex with children and having sex with dead bodies.

"He wished to point out that he was not fantasising about this, but 'acting on his thoughts'.

"In the deceased's home, 'once I realised she was a child, I started having thoughts about raping her, about killing her.'

"He said 'Four questions – murder, rape, necrophilia and paedophilia. All I thought about was killing her once I saw her.'

"He appeared irritated by the medical evidence that the child was alive at the time of the sexual assault as this would not have fulfilled his desire for necrophilia."

However, despite the crimes being described in the judgement as "extremely brutal sexual assaults of the utmost degeneracy, committed whilst the child was alive, and causing very significant injury and pain", the sentence was reduced.

'Arrogant and callous'

It was said: "We do not think that it is possible entirely to rule out any residual capacity for change in such a young individual, notwithstanding the atrocious nature of his crime".

Lawyers for Campbell argued that he had suffered a “miscarriage of justice” when he was handed a longer jail term than the teen who slaughtered Jodi Jones.

Brian McConnachie QC complained the stretch for killing Alesha was too long as he was only 16 at the time.

He told appeal judges yesterday it was unfair compared to the 20 years Jodi fiend Luke Mitchell got for butchering his girlfriend, when they were both aged 14.

The fiend was described by Judge Lord Matthews during sentencing as "arrogant and callous".

Campbell finally admitted guilt of the heinous crimes.

The monster had blamed the crimes on dad Robert MacPhail's girlfriend, Toni McLachlan  – claiming she “brutalised” the little girl.

But Ms McLachlan wept in the dock after he admitted all crimes.

Campbell's defending QC told the court his client shows many traits on the "psychopath checklist".

The killer has not had a visitor to his cell in months as he has been disowned by his family who missed his 17th birthday from a cell.
