An ex-actress once dubbed as ‘Hong Kong’s sex goddess’ has stunned millions with her incredibly youthful looks more than 20 years after she retired from the screen.

Chingmy Yau Suk-ching who rose to fame in 1987 looks almost as young as her daughter in a picture circulating on Chinese social media.

Ms Yau is the wife of Hong Kong fashion tycoon Sham Kar Wai. Their eldest daughter, 18-year-old Sham Yuet, is set to attend this year’s Le Bal des Débutantes, the ultra-glamorous debutante ball in Paris in November.

‘When the two stood together, they look more like sisters than mother and daughter,’ one article on Chinese news outlet Sina praised. 

‘How come she hasn’t aged a bit in decades?’ Another web user gushed.

A trending topic page titled ‘Chingmy Yau is still so beautiful’ has gathered more than 150 million clicks on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, with tens of thousands of people expressing their astonishment at Ms Yau’s ageless appearance.

Ms Yau first captured the public’s attention in 1987 when she competed in Miss Hong Kong pageant at the age of 19.

She withdrew from the final of the highly popular beauty contest after being accused of using plastic surgery to improve her chin – allegations she has never admitted to.

Now 51 years old, she continues to frequent the front pages of Chinese tabloids due to her youthful looks.

She starred in her first film, a comedy called The Crazy Companies, in 1988 after being cast by influential Hong Kong director Wong Jing.

During the height of her career in the 1990s, Ms Yau shared the fame with superstars like Stephen Chow, Andy Lau, Jet Li and Aaron Kwok.

One of her most famous characters is Hoi Tong, a crime boss’s daughter in the 1994 action blockbuster God of Gamblers Returns. The film featured Chow Yun-Fat and set a box office record of HK$52 million (£5.4 million).

She appeared in her last film in 1997 before marrying Sham Kar Wai, the founder of Hong Kong fashion conglomerate I.T, two years later. The couple have three daughters.

The public’s interest in Ms Yau surged last week after it was revealed that her eldest daughter Sham Yuet would appear in this year’s Le Bal des Débutantes.

The gorgeous socialite and model-wannabe last week posted pictures of her doing a fitting for the high-class ball.

Shum Yuet first stepped into the limelight after posing for a picture with her mother at her mother’s 49th birthday party in May, 2017.

The picture was taken and posted to Instagram by Ms Yau’s friend, actress Anna Ueyama, and later went viral.

In a recent interview with Sina, Ms Yau revealed her secrets to her youthful looks. 

The mother-of-three said she maintained the habit of eating only fruit for breakfast and doing yoga an hour every day. 

She also claimed to use olive oil mixed with granulated sugar to cleanse her face regularly to help get rid of dead skin.
