Coronation Stree stars forced to stop filming Christmas scenes due to giggling

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has revealed he and co-star Jennie McAlpine had to stop filming one Christmas scene in particular as they couldn't stop laughing.

Fans of the ITV soap are aware that Tyrone Dobbs is currently planning a secret wedding to his fiancée Fiz Stape for December 25.

The Weatherfield mechanic got down on one knee earlier this week and asked Fiz to be his wife as their whirlwind two-decade long romance took another turn.

Fiz is blissfully unaware that Tyrone is planning on getting her down the aisle on Christmas Day and is left disappointed when Tyrone appears to be uninterested in spending time as family over the festive period.

Speaking to Daily Star and other press, Jennie said: "She's super excited for Christmas and has no idea about this wedding is being planned so she's planning a perfect Christmas.

"It's the first Christmas back together, after all the things we won't mention, as a family unit.

"She just wants a perfect Christmas like you see on those adverts for supermarkets.

"He [Tyrone] says 'maybe we won't have a Christmas dinner, maybe we'll have a pizza' so that doesn't go down well.

"She also gets him a really special present, a Weatherfield County present, which she's really thought carefully about but you know it's the thought that counts, there's no literally thought with Tyrone's present."

Alan added: "This is one of them moments when you get the scripts and I read the script to see what Tyrone gives to Fiz on Christmas Day and I must admit I burst out laughing."

He continued: "When we tried to film it, we bursted out laughing again. It's horrendous really but I don't really want to give the game away."

Viewers will have to wait and see if Fiz and Tyrone end up tying the knot but its clear that avid Corrie fans want to see them finally happy as a couple.

Alan said: ""It's crazy and there's been so many times where they have been close but hopefully this time they make it. I think a lot of people want to see Fiz and Tyrone together.

"We get it a lot in the streets as well. People say that to us in the street when we're out and about."

"There's also the personal and selfish aspect of it as an actor. I love working day by day with Jennie and we have great fun and times doing that for two decades."
