Ben Shephard was left flabbergasted during Monday's episode of Tipping Point as a player suffered a hilarious bird blunder.

Jemma had made it to the final two and was playing against fellow contestant Dec in a bid to make it through to the last round of the ITV show.

However, a question about long-legged birds left Jemma puzzled and her answer left presenter Ben even more perplexed.

Attempting to think of various types of birds, Jemma pondered whether the answer could be an ostrich, flamingo or 'stoke'.

She decided to go with the answer 'stoke', leaving Ben and viewers watching at home baffled as they'd never heard of the species.

One viewer said: "Stoke? Wtf bird is a stoke?", with four laughing emojis.

While another wrote: "Stoke? Haha".

"is a stoke even a bird???", penned a third.

A fourth remarked: "A stoke? Does she mean a stork".

After her incorrect answer, Ben asked Jemma: "Did you mean a stalk?"

Jemma suddenly realised she'd completely made up a species of bird as she laughed in shock.

Viewers went into meltdown on social media after the hilarious television mishap.

One said: "I'm wetting myself", with three laughing emojis.

Another added: "Stoke ….straight in The Tipping Point Hall of Fame".

"Stoke the bird? This is getting downright surreal", tweeted another ITV viewer.

Jemma didn't make it through to the last round of the programme as she was beaten by Dec.

He was the lucky player to be in with the chance of winning the hugely sought after £10,000 jackpot.

Dec didn't manage to bag the jackpot prize, but did take home £2,900.

Last week, Ben was left in stitches over a player's wrong answer.

Ben asked the contestants: "Which publishing company was named after a flightless bird?"

Blonde bombshell Emily confidently pressed her buzzer to answer the question and said "ladybird" as her answer.

Ben was left in stitches as Emily shared her wrong answer with the group.

Viewers noticed Ben's laughed as one said: "Bet @benshephard won’t forget that ladybird answer from Emily."

Another penned: "You know you've screwed up when even Ben bursts out laughing."

"I didn't even take notice of the correct answer of ladybird question? what was it? I was too busy laughing at Ben", typed a third.
