MIN can win the King George.
MINELLA INDO (3.05 Kempton, nap) was brilliant when taking the Cheltenham Gold Cup in a thriller and looks ideal for this challenge.
His jumping is excellent, which is essential for Kempton’s speed track, and he has the finishing kick you need for the highest level. Don’t worry about his third at Down Royal last time – he was rusty there and will be spot-on for this first big target of the season.
Clan Des Obeaux has been wrapped in cotton wool since his brilliant defeat of double Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo at Punchestown in April. We know he loves this race because he’s won it twice and third 12 months ago. He’ll be right there again.

Frodon toughed it out from the front when scoring last year and is fresh from a battling success at Down Royal. He’ll be hard to pass again and can hold on for a place.
Chantry House is fancied by many for the Cheltenham Gold Cup but needs to improve a bit on what we’ve seen go far. Asterion Forlonge is another with place claims if he sees out this longer trip.

ASTERION FORLONGE 3
AS class. Was a Grade 1 winner as a novice and finished third in the Marsh Chase at the Cheltenham Festival so has quality. Can make errors as he showed when unseating when bang in contention for the John Durkan at Punchestown earlier this month. Goes beyond 2m5f for the first time here but should stay. Chance if jumping holds up.
CHANTRY HOUSE 3
ON the House. Improved a bundle last season and made the most of Envoi Allen’s fall to win the Marsh at Cheltenham. Cashed in again when his main rival took a tumble in the Grade 1 Mildmay at Aintree but had some decent opposition behind both times. Won a match on comeback at Sandown and is a proven stayer who handles a speed track. Needs to improve but capable of that.
CLAN DES OBEAUX 4
CLAN-tastic. Won this in 2018 and 2019 and was a solid third behind Frodon 12 months ago when maybe feeling the effects of a hard race at Haydock a month before. Has been kept fresh this time and was last seen beating Al Boum Photo in the Punchestown Gold Cup in April. We know he loves it here, he handles any ground and will be hard to keep out of the frame again.
FRODON 3
TO and Fro. One of the gutsiest chasers in training, he was a surprise winner of this 12 months ago before a gallant fifth in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. He’s been brilliant twice since with a Sandown success before a typically battling win in the Down Royal Champion Chase last time out in October. He’ll go from the front again and his sound jumping and great attitude makes him a threat again.

LOSTINTRANSLATION 2
GET Lost. Has been pulled up in the past two runnings of this but ended a two-year losing run with a comfortable Grade 2 success at Ascot last month. He travelled nicely there after a wind operation and jumped well. He has won over this sort of trip but he seemed happier over the 2m5f there and he needs to raise his game again to figure in this stronger company.
MINELLA INDO 5
IN the running. Won a well above average Cheltenham Gold Cup in March when he jumped well and had plenty left in the tank to beat defending champ Al Boum Photo and A Plus Tard in a thrilling finish. He was only third behind Frodon at Down Royal on comeback in October but wasn’t asked too many questions and clearly needed the run. He’ll be spot-on today over a trip that he relishes and can show his championship class again.
MISTER FISHER 1
FISHER sunk. Has won a couple of Grade 2 contests but has failed to finish three of his past five chase runs. He was last seen finishing second in lesser company than this at Sandown and all his wins have been over shorter. Needs plenty of improvement.
SAINT CALVADOS 2
DON’T Cal us. Is only eight but has been chasing since 2017 with his highest success coming at Grade 2 level. He was a cracking second in the 2020 Ryanair at the Cheltenham Festival before finishing fourth in this race. He has been off since unseating in the mud at Sandown in February and will do well to match last year’s effort.
TORNADO FLYER 2
TOR needs more. He was a surprise third in this year’s Ryanair at Cheltenham and proved that was no fluke with a solid fifth in the John Durkan last time. The trip’s a worry as his best efforts have come over shorter and he looks short of this level.
