Alabama star made it clear early he couldn’t be stopped

Every reporter’s worst nightmare played out Friday night when a scribe forgot to mute their microphone during star Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s Zoom news conference.

“Poor Trevor needs to shave his ‘stache,” the unidentified reporter could be heard saying as Lawrence, who recently introduced a light blonde mustache to match his famous long hair, answered a question about Clemson’s 49-28 loss to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinal.

The presumptive No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft looked around incredulously as the video call’s moderator reminded reporters to mute their microphones.

Lawrence then laughed and responded, “thank you.”

All across sports, news conferences have been taking place remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Lawrence threw for 400 yards, two touchdowns and one interception during the Sugar Bowl loss.

The 21-year-old led Clemson to a national championship as a freshman and is 34-2 in three seasons, leading many to believe he will declare for the draft and be selected first-overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Ohio State will take on Alabama in the title game Jan. 11.
