Tottenham targeting 'kids and stars on dwindling contracts' with Monaco starlet Coulibaly among three aces being watched

TOTTENHAM will look to sign young players and those with expiring contracts in the summer, according to reports.

Spurs' director of football Fabio Paratici is thought to have identified three players that the club will try to secure at the end of the season.

According to The Mail, the first name on that shortlist is Monaco midfielder Mamadou Coulibaly.

The U18 French international's deal with the Ligue 1 side is set to be up at the end of the current campaign.

And Paratici, who has connections in the French transfer market, will look to take full advantage of that by luring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Also on the Italian's radar are a pair of youngsters who have impressed for Nottingham Forest.

Brennan Johnson, 20, has netted nine times in all competitions for the Championship outfit so far this season – including in the 4-1 thrashing of Leicester City in the FA Cup.

He attracted interest from Brentford in the January window, but nothing materialised.

However, with Johnson entering the final 18 months of his existing deal, Forest may feel now is the best time to cash in on him.

Another player Spurs are looking at who is currently wearing a Forest shirt is Djed Spence.

The 21-year-old right-back, whose parent club is Middlesbrough, has flourished during his loan spell at the City Ground.

Spence produced a wonderful display against Arsenal in the 1-0 win over Mikel Arteta's men.

And he then repeated that level of performance against Leicester – capping another memorable day with the team's fourth goal.

However, it is Boro that Spurs will have to deal with if they are to sign the attacking full-back.

Paratici, who only arrived in North London in June of last year, is already under pressure to deliver for Tottenham after a disappointing January window.

Antonio Conte only saw two fresh faces come through the door despite asking for a number of new players.

Juventus pair Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur were the only additions to the Spurs squad.

They were beaten to the signing of winger Adama Traore by Barcelona after a dispute over his positioning in the team.

And they then suffered a similar fate with highly-rated midfield talent Luis Diaz as Liverpool snapped him up instead.
