Salford's clash against Crawley called OFF due to waterlogged pitch just hours before kick-off

SALFORD'S League Two match against Crawley has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Moor Lane surface has been deemed "unplayable" after continuous rainfall and thus the game had to be rearranged just hours before kick-off.

Fans have been left fuming but the Ammies have promised that match tickets will be valid for the rearranged fixture and refunds will be offered for those unable to attend the new date.

Salford released the following statement: "Today’s Sky Bet League Two fixture between Salford City and Crawley Town has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

"The surface passed a preliminary pitch inspection by the match official at 9am, with the officials due to return at 12:30pm.

"However rainfall continuously fell throughout the morning, and when we requested that the match referee return earlier to re-assess he deemed the surface unplayable.

"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to supporters. Match tickets will be valid for the rearranged date once it has been agreed, or refunds will be available once a date has been agreed and announced.

"Our next fixture is away at Swindon Town next Saturday. Supporters must buy match tickets in advance from the Salford ticket office as there is no on-the-day admission. Coach travel it available for £10 return, again tickets can be booked at the Salford ticket office."
