Man Utd legend suddenly QUITS chief executive job and says 'I am done' as Old Trafford fans beg him to return | The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Edwin van der Sar has left his position at Ajax.

The shock news has prompted calls from United fans to install him at Old Trafford.

The former goalkeeper, who won the Champions League in 2008 as well as four Premier League titles, quit as Ajax's chief executive officer.

In a statement released by the club, the Dutchman said: "After almost eleven years on the board, I am done.

"We have experienced wonderful things together, but it has also been an incredibly tough period.

"I am very grateful for the people I have met and worked with during my second career at Ajax, and what we have achieved and been through together."
