Arsenal set to offload Mohamed Elneny in Fenerbahce transfer as Mikel Arteta looks to offload higher wage earners
ARSENAL midfielder Mohamed Elneny could be on his way out of the Emirates in the winter transfer window with Fenerbahce keen to bring him back to Turkey.
The 29-year-old – currently on international duty with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations – has entered the final six months of his contract at the Emirates.
The ex-Basel ace could be allowed to depart as Mikel Arteta looks to reduce the wage bill in North London.
Left-back Sead Kolasinac has had his contract ripped up to allow him to join Marseille on a free transfer.
Defender Pablo Mari is poised to link up with Udinese on loan, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles has already signed for Roma on loan.
And Elneny could follow them out the door with Sport360Egypt claiming that he could return to Turkey.
The 2017 FA Cup winner spent the 2019-20 season with Besiktas, where he impressed in his 36 outings.
It has been said that he could now be on his way to join their Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce.

They state that he is nearing a return to Turkey, with Fenerbahce asking to set a date to discuss a potential transfer.
Despite Elneny currently at AFCON, it is not thought to jeopardise a move away from England.
The Turkish winter window is open until February 8, while the AFCON final takes place on February 6.
Elneny has been reduced to a bit-part role under Arteta this campaign, with the player limited to just seven Premier League games – starting just once.
Newcastle were linked with a move for Elneny last month, but it appears that Eddie Howe is now eyeing other targets.
The two-time Community Shield winner had planned to extend his stay at the Emirates, though it is unlikely he will be handed fresh terms.
