Stacey Solomon makes incredible rainbow candle to honour NHS clap for carers using just crayons

Stacey Solomon marked the NHS clap for carers moment with a special homemade rainbow candle that she made using just crayons.

The Loose Women star, who recently returned to filming after the show had been off-air due to the coronavirus pandemic, shared that her oldest sons Zachary, 12, and Leighton, eight, wanted to make them.

Using leftover broken bits of different coloured crayons that Stacey had gathered from her sons' stationery boxes, she made her latest craft project to honour the frontline staff working to battle COVID-19.

"The boys want to make key worker candles for tonight so wish me luck," she wrote ahead of the weekly clap help on Thursdays at 8pm.

Instead of throwing aways the broken ends of the crayons, Stacey separated them into piles of the same colour and with a pan over hot water melted them down.

She washed out empty jars of mint sauce and mint jelly to hold the colourful candles in, but jokingly warned her followers: "You will need: A LOT OF FRIGGING PATIENCE. Some crayons, wicks and some empty jars."

The mum-of-three filmed herself using a glue gun to attach the wick to the base of the jar and holding it in place with a peg.

She then poured in the melted colours of wax, waiting for each to cool and harden before adding the next colour for the rainbow effect.

Stacey added: "We just did them rough because it was too hard to get perfect straight lines."

Stacey allowed her sons to top off the colourful candles with miniature rainbows and sprinkles before later getting ready to light it for the clap for carers that evening.

The TV presenter did add at the end before the final reveal that she used "way more crayons" than she'd initially shown.

She then showed off the results saying the candles reminded her of "sand jars we used to collect on holiday".

Later in the evening Stacey showed her lighting the candles as her boys said in the background: "I love them mum, shall we go clap?"
