None of Meghan Markle's Other Friends Liked Jessica Mulroney, Source Says
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is in a new era in her life. Though she tried to use her voice and raise awareness for the causes that were important to her as a senior royal, things didn’t work out according to plan. Instead, Meghan felt stifled and scrutinized at every turn.
Now, Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry have left the U.K. and the royal fold for a new life in Los Angeles. They are currently focused on creating their Archewell foundation and working with Black Lives Matter and with groups for coronavirus (COVID-19) relief. This is a chance for Meghan to use her voice and introduce herself to the world on her terms.
Unfortunately, the duchess’ main focuses are being overlooked. By association, Meghan has been pulled into a white privilege scandal involving her good friend, Jessica Mulroney. Sources say that Meghan had been trying to distance herself from Mulroney even before this incident occurred and that her other friends never liked the Canadian socialite, to begin with.

Jessica Mulroney is in the middle of a massive scandal
Amid the Black Lives Matter movement, people are calling out anti-Blackness, racism, and white privilege. Sasha Exeter, a Black entrepreneur, blogger, and brand marketer called out her white peers who had been silent amid the global unrest over police killings of Black people and racial injustice. Though Exeter never called anyone out by name, Mulroney immediately took offense and began threatening the blogger and her livelihood.
“What happened next was a series of very problematic behavior and antics that ultimately resulted in [Mulroney] sending me a threat in writing last Wednesday,” Exeter said in a video.
Mulroney has since apologized to Exeter, has been fired from several of her projects, and has stepped away from public life. It also appears that her relationship with Meghan is suffering too.

Meghan Markle has been distancing herself from Jessica Mulroney for some time
Even before Mulroney’s scandal, the duchess who had once referred to the Canadian stylist as a sister had slowly been putting distance between them. “Their friendship is definitely not what it was. And really, how can you have such a close friendship when one person is basically making a career out of the friendship?” a source told Page Six. “The row has really given Meghan the excuse she was waiting for to cut Jess off for good.”
It also apparently rubbed Meghan the wrong way, when Mulroney referred to her in her apology to Exeter. “As I told you privately, I have lived a very public and personal experience with my closest friend where race was front and center,” Mulroney said. “It was deeply educational.”

Meghan Markle’s friends never liked Jessica Mulroney
Though Meghan has been close friends with Mulroney for nearly a decade, her circle of friends never truly embraced the former Good Morning America contributor.
‘[Meghan’s friends have been] concerned for some time that Jessica has been profiting from her relationship with Meghan and using it to further her brand,” an insider told Entertainment Tonight.
However, the source also explained that Meghan has truly valued Jessica’s friendship over the years. “Jessica has been a source of strength for Meghan in the past during some of her most difficult times.”
Still, all of this might be too much for the duchess at this time. “Meghan is absolutely mortified that she’s been dragged into this complete mess,” the source said. “She said Jessica is in no way a racist, but the way she handled the situation (with the fashion influencer) was tone-deaf and heartbreaking.”
