Meghan Markle and Prince Harry ‘could become world’s best paid celebrity couple’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could become the world's best paid celebrity couple as they 'step back' from their royal duties, PR experts say.

The superstar couple could rake in a billion dollars in just a decade as they earn lucrative deals from sponsors and significant seven-figure sums just for turning up to events.

In addition, experts believe they could make tens of millions a year by becoming public brand ambassadors for tech giants such as Google or Apple.

Ronn Torossian, of New York PR firm 5W Public Relations, told the Mail Online: "Their earning power – both individually and as a couple – is limitless in all aspects of endorsements.

"Whether appearances, brand partnerships or more, they could make eight or nine figures annually with endorsement deals.’

It was widely reported yesterday that Meghan was in talks with top luxury brands, including Paris fashion house Givenchy, over possible sponsorships.

The Duchess of Sussex has a vast array of contacts in the the industry and hopes to use lucrative commercial contracts to fund her new charitable foundation and the family's touted move to North America.

  • Queen 'forced to make call to Harry to see if he was coming for Christmas'

A source told the Sun: “Meghan is very connected in the fashion industry and there are a lot of major labels who would like to partner with her on projects.

“There have already been active discussions with Givenchy. Some of these deals could be worth millions of pounds.

“I’m sure she is going to link some of the initiatives to their foundation.”

Buckingham Palace is understood to have been angered by the couple's attempt to cash in on their royal status and say the Queen, Prince Charles or other senior figures were kept in the dark about the couple's plans.

It was reported yesterday that Prince Charles may stop funding Harry and Meghan Markle if they ditch their royal duties completely.

Prince Harry's fortune is thought to stand at around £30m, much of which he inherited from his mother Princess Diana and the Queen Mother.

But it is believed the Prince of Wales does not intend to offer the couple unrestricted access to his wealth as they step back from the royal family.

Prince Charles provides the majority of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's income, while only five per cent comes from the Sovereign Grant.

Yesterday it was reported that the Duchess of Sussex had flown to Canada leaving Harry to deal with the subsequent fall-out.

The Duchess is understood to have returned to be with Archie, who stayed in the country as she and Harry returned to the UK.

Sources are believed to have told the Mail she "had not" planned on staying in the UK after their six-week Christmas break.

Harry has also told the Queen and dad Charles he will follow his wife to Canada as soon as possible.

He also faces an awkward return to Buckingham Palace when he hosts the draw there for the Rugby League World Cup.

A Palace statement said: "The Queen, the Prince Of Wales and Duke of Cambridge have directed their teams to work together at pace with the government and the Sussex household to find workable solutions."
