KFC reopens drive-thrus at 55 restaurants

KFC has reopened drive-thru lanes at 55 of its restaurants.

The fried chicken chain has already reopened 100 branches for delivery orders only.

KFC says the drive-thru lanes are at restaurants that have already reopened.

The fast food giant confirmed the news in a tweet this afternoon.

A full list of reopened restaurants, including the ones that are open for drive-thru orders as well, can be found below.

The update from KFC comes after McDonald's confirmed the locations of its 15 restaurants that are set to reopen next week.

KFC said: "We've been working hard to responsibly reopen our restaurants and now we're spreading our wings a little further.

"In line with government advice, we've decided to open the drive-thru lanes at 55 of our UK restaurants that are already open for delivery."

However, KFC is urging customers to continue to order online still if they can.

The company continued: "We just want to offer a little more choice to those who are already on the road for essential journeys or on their way home from difficult shifts."

The fried chicken chain says 55 drive-thrus are open, but they've only listed 54 restaurants.

KFC has also only listed 82 of its 100 reopened restaurants.

We've asked KFC for the remaining branch locations and we'll update this list as soon as possible.

KFC will continue to offer a reduced menu, due to having less staff working at one time.

When The Sun checked what you could order using Deliveroo, KFC had single sandwiches, smaller meal boxes and larger bucket options available.

Of the smaller offerings, KFC fans could still order a single fillet burger, or go full out on a 14-piece bargain bucket.

Workers are being kept apart with designated two metre zones inside restaurants, marked by tape on the floor.

KFC announced it was closing all branches on March 23 due to the coronavirus crisis.

It then started partially reopening some chains on April 14, with customers being able to order food via Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats.

If you choose to order from KFC via these apps, remember that you'll be charged a delivery fee.

Dining areas remain closed to the public, meaning customers can't eat inside.

You also can't order directly from the KFC website.

KFC has around 900 restaurants in the UK.

KFC isn't the only fast food chain to reopen doors – Burger King, Five Guys and Wagamama have also started serving customers again.

Costa Coffee and Pret a Manger have also reopened some stores.
