Josiah Carter From 'Below Deck' May Have Met His Match From the 'Below Deck Med' Crew on Hair Products

Although Josiah Carter from Below Deck sweetly shaved his head for a fundraiser to help the organization that supported his mother through breast cancer, his mad hairstyle will likely be back in business shortly.

The second stew’s hair was often noted on the show. He even did a tutorial for his Instagram fans about the (several) products he uses and how he keeps his hair looking so sharp.

Even though he held the title of “hair king” last season, a few of the Below Deck Mediterranean crew members may beat the stew at his hair game. Bravo talked with the incoming crew about their style and at least a few of the deckhands have their own recipe to keep their hair on point.

This is the secret to his long, wavy locks

Deckhand Jack Stirrup definitely has some thick, long, wavy hair. In fact, the deckhand’s locks mirror the same style worn by actor Heath Ledger. Ledger stole hearts with that style in the film, 10 Things I Hate About You in 1999.

Stirrup is definitely rocking an updated version of what Ledger had and shares what he does to keep his style looking so good. “The best products I wear for my hair is a bit of wax,” he tells Bravo. “Gives it a bit of attitude.”

“It gives it a bit of front, doesn’t it,” he smiles. “Gives it a bit of bounce. My hair is my prize possession.” Indeed. A quick check of Stirrup’s Instagram account shows that his hair always looks amazing, whether he’s on charter or hanging with friends.

There’s a science to his style

While Stirrup has some long wild locks, Colin Macy-O’Toole likes to keep his style looking tight. He breaks down what it takes to create that perfect style. “When I’m traveling I always bring my molding cream,” he says. “A blow dryer and a curling brush.” He says he’s gotta keep it fresh.

Apparently, Macy-O’Toole’s grooming habits have rubbed off on bosun João Franco. Franco was Macy-O’Toole’s roommate last year and they are back in the same room together again this year too.

So, Franco admits he’s starting to take on some of Macy-O’Toole’s hair tricks. “I’ve up’ed my game haven’t I,” he says. I’m sharing a room with Colin so…” he laughs. Then he slyly says, “I bring nothing. I just use all of Colin’s hair products! It’s all good!”

The ladies really depend on this one product

Captain Sandy Yawn says to use any products with moisturizer because the sun dries everything out. Chief stew Hannah Ferrier echoes the need for moisturizer too.

But there’s one thing many of the crew members insist you need: dry shampoo. “I probably go through like 10 cans of it in a season,” Ferrier admits.

“The best hair and beauty products to have on a yacht are dry shampoo,” stew Anastasia Surmava says. Also, “Sunscreen is a great thing to have even if you are inside.
