A woman has captured a hilarious photo of her children in which one of her three boys poses awkwardly with a plastic fish in his mouth.

Stay-at-home mother, Marika Daniels, from South Dakota, took to Instagram on Sunday, June 30, to share a photo she took of her three kids – Levi, four, Logan, three, and Landon, 18 months old.

Before taking the photo, she had understandably told the boys to hold their plastic fish. However, Landon evidently missed the memo, as he held the fish in his mouth rather than in his hand.

Hilarious! Marika Daniels shared a now viral photo of her three kids (pictured L-R) Levi, four, Logan, three, and Landon, 18 months as they posed with plastic fish

Adorable: While the eldest children stood holding their fish in their hands for the photo, Landon was seen with the toy in his mouth, as he boasted a very confused expression

Family fun: Marika (pictured with her partner and children) was at a children’s museum in Brookings, South Dakota, where the boys caught ‘fish’ from a pond

The image sees the three boys standing together outside a children’s museum in Brookings, South Dakota.

Evidently enjoying some quality family time and enjoying the warm, summer weather, the three boys are seen wearing colorful swimming trunks and T-shirts.

Funny moment: Marika (pictured) didn’t realize how funny the photo was until after she captured it, as she said she was preoccupied trying to get the older boys to look at the camera and pose

While the older children, Levi and Logan, stand up straight with their plastic fish held in their hands, Landon had a different idea.

The 18-month-old is seen in the hilarious photo with the plastic fish in his mouth, while his hands hand awkwardly in front of him.

Meanwhile, the adorable toddler’s face boasts a confused expression in the image.

Marika, who found the image hilarious, later shared it to Instagram, with a caption that read: ‘Oh, Landon… Help me think of a caption for this!’

And since the image was shared, it has gone viral, garnering over 1,200 likes and over 150 comments.

Marika told Good Morning America that she asked her boys to post for a photo with the ‘fish’ they caught in a pond at the museum.

However, she was so preoccupied telling her eldest children how to pose for the photo that she didn’t notice what Landon was doing.

When I took the picture, I honestly didn’t realize Landon put the fish in his mouth because I was trying to get the attention of the two older ones to look at my camera,’ she told Fox News.

”He’s just at that age where he puts everything in his mouth,’ she said.

‘They are rubber fish. They’re not real fish. After I saw the picture I said, “Oh my gosh, this is actually kind of funny”.

Marika said she originally shared the photo with her friends and family on Facebook, before eventually sharing it elsewhere.

When she shared the photo to Instagram, it went viral, and quickly became a meme.

‘It just spread like wildfire,’ the mother-of-three said.

‘You won the internet. Probably for the whole year!’ one Instagram user commented on the hilarious photo.

Another said: ‘The little one with the fish in his mouth made me laugh! What a character!’

Meanwhile, others re-posted the photo with different captions, including: ‘Every family has that one kid.’

Since the photograph went viral, Marika has expressed that she is ‘humbled’ at the joy the photo brought to others.

She said: ‘Truly humbled at how many likes, shares, laughs and smiles this picture has brought to so many people around the world already! ‘
