You’re watering your plants all wrong—the right way will keep them alive even while you’re on vacation

NOTHING makes a house come alive like colorful, happy plants.

Whether you have orchids, roses, or ferns, you’ll want to make sure to water them consistently so that they keep their vibrant color.

Unfortunately, many of our plants die while we’re away on vacation because no one is looking after them.

Even just 3 days away from a flower can cause it to slightly wither down.

But one man on TikTok, the very popular @Creative_Explained, said he has the perfect solution to ensure that your plants stay alive while you’re gone.

“When you’re done with a plastic bottle, don’t throw it out,” he began.

“Instead, what you want to do is poke a hole in the cap and put a Q-tip through it.”

The hole was just big enough to hold the Q-tip in place.

“Then grab a chopstick or any kind of stick and tape it to the bottle,” he said.

He positioned the chopstick so that it stuck out past the top of the bottle.

Next, remove the cap momentarily to fill up the bottle with water and then close it back up again.

Now, you’re ready for your plants and flowers.

Grab a plant and stick the bottle into its soil— using the chop stick to wedge it in.

“What you have right now is a home-made drip system.

“That’s going to keep watering your plant slowly while you’re away for a few days.”

The Q-tip cotton allows the water in the bottle to drip little by little into the pot.

“This is how I kept my pineapple alive while I was away for a week,” he shared.

The clip garnered over one million views, with commenters in awe of the man’s creativity:

“Bro this guy makes everything reusable and I love it. It’s so interesting what you can do with things,” one person wrote.

“Someone give this man a noble prize,” added another.
