Kate Middleton gives a high-five and Meghan Markle is all smiles in candid Royal Family selfies to celebrate National Selfie Day

NO matter where they are in the world or what they're up to, The Royal Family are used to having their every move photographed.

But while we're all used to seeing them looking polished in their professional portraits or posing for the camera during their official engagements, even the Royals have been known to show off their playful side with a cheeky selfie or two.

Today, 21 June, marks National Selfie day and although stopping to chat to members of the public is just an ordinary part of any official engagement, the Royals seem all too happy to pose for candid photos with adoring fans.

Back in 2014, Kate Middleton was photographed high-fiving a member of the public during a royal tour of New Zealand.

Aware that she's having her photo taken, the Duchess of Cambridge is all smiles as she reciprocates a teenage boy's high five.

Meanwhile, 10-year-old Max Henry took two almost identical selfies with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry during their New Zealand tour shortly after they announced they were expecting their first child.

The youngster captured Harry's attention by holding a laminated photo he'd previously taken with his brother Prince William before also posing for a selfie with Meghan Markle.

After sharing her son's photos on Twitter, Max's mum Vicci Chawe said: "They're just lovely people."

But this isn't the first time Prince Harry has happily posed for a selfie with the public.

Along with taking a photo with fans in Estonia who made him his very own crown in May 2014, Prince Harry most famously took a selfie with President Obama during a 2017 basketball match at the Invictus Games.

In contrast, Prince William hasn't always been so keen on taking selfies with fans.

While walking to church on Christmas Day in 2014, the future King stopped to chat to 12-year-old Madison Lambe.

Despite previously joking that he was "allergic" to selfies, William happily took a photo with Madison and said: "You can't beat a good selfie on Christmas Day."

But one Royal who is always happy to have her photo taken is The Queen herself.

Used to having her every move photographed, The Queen actually turned the tables on two Royal fans back in 2014.

While meeting Australia's Commonwealth Games hockey team in 2014, The Queen snuck into the background of Jade Taylor's cheeky selfie with her teammate.

Sharing the photo of The Queen smiling from behind the hockey court on Twitter, the Olympic champion wrote: "Ahh The Queen photo-bombed our selfie!!!"

An Irish teen also quickly posed for a photo with The Queen during her visit to Belfast's St George's Market in 2014.

In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, 14-year-old Jack snapped a selfie with the smiling monarch as she walked around the historic market.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Allan Banford couldn't quite believe his luck when he snapped a selfie at Newbury Racecourse in 2017 only to discover the monarch had photobombed him.

Looking suited and booted for a day at the races, Allan was only trying to get a photo of the horses because he couldn't force himself to ask The Queen for a photo.

But much to his delight, Her Majesty can be seen happily beaming in his direction as she arrived for the races.

Come rain or shine, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall have also happily posed for countless selfies with adoring fans over the years.

Back in 2016, Mike Tindall was photographed looking like absolute "Dad goals" while posing with young fans during the Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park.

Additionally, the Countess of Wessex kicked back with some Spice Girls lookalikes during the Hampshire County Show as she posed for a laid-back group photo.

Royals: they're just like us, right?

In more Royal Family news, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry see their Windsor move as an escape from the "fish bowl" life of Kensington Palace, a royal source has revealed.

Plus bookies have slashed the odds on Meghan Markle's Royal baby arriving on The Queen's birthday.

And Meghan Markle must respect royal staff and stop "trying to be clever", The Queen's former aide Dickie Arbiter has warned.
