Love Island stars Olivia and Alex Bowen have amassed ‘£4.5 million fortune’ since leaving the hit show

If you don’t think a lot can happen in five years then you only need to cast an eye on the lives of Love Island star’s Olivia Buckland and Alex Bowen.

The married couple, who found love on the famed reality show, are now worth a reported £4.5 million, showing they’ve come a long way from Alex’s payday-loan debts which he’d accrued prior to appearing on the show.

Olivia, 26, and Alex, 28, met on series two of the hit show, and have since married, moved into their dream home, which they gave OK! an exclusive look around, and are the owners of two adorable pooches, Winnie and Reggie.

Blonde bombshell Olivia, who recently showed off her home renovation plans, discussed her journey since leaving the villa, saying: “I didn’t go on Love Island for love, I didn’t go in for money, I just went in for a laugh. My friends say I’ve become a nicer person because of Love Island.

“Now we’ve moved into our dream home, we go on amazing holidays and it’s thanks to Love Island,” she told The Sun on Sunday.

Since coming out of the Love Island villa, the loved-up pair have been revealed as the richest Love Island contestants ever.

Heat magazine’s Rich List 2019 revealed that the married couple have made their money from various clothing brands, collaborations, TV deals and Olivia’s consistent work with beauty and hair lines.

Before the show, Alex, who now says other Love Islanders will message him and Olivia for advice, owed around £5000 but said he “couldn’t afford to pay anything back” and was “in a rut.”

Meanwhile, Olivia was earning £18,000 a year plus commission as a sales executive whilst living in a council flat.

Of her financial situation before the show, Olivia continued to tell The Sun on Sunday: “I was always in my overdraft and using credit cards.

Since leaving the villa, the pair are known to have spent £100,000 on their dreamy wedding at Gosfield Hall in Essex, and also splashed £1 million on their incredible five-bedroom home.

Further earnings come from Instagram, where the pair have amassed millions of followers and can reportedly charge £2,000 per post. And they’ve also banked over £700,000 from personal appearances.

As well, the pair own their fashion label named Exempt Society and they’ve modelled for the likes of Gym King and MissPap.

Further earnings come from Olivia’s presenting duties for TLC’s Second Chance Dresses and other shows, which have reportedly raked in £200,000 for the star, and she’s also released a MissPap clothing range, as well as being the ambassador for Cocoa Brown tan.

Olivia continued: “We have definitely been lucky but there is no guarantee that you will strike it rich from going on Love Island.

“You have to be really savvy to achieve longevity. You have to work hard and make the right decisions.”

Back in 2019, the star revealed that, while she and Alex had spoken about having children, they’re both too busy with their careers.

"Kids wise, we do talk about it, and I think I’m more broody than I used to be and I do want to have kids,” she explained. But we’re just so busy and one of the opportunities I have next year, I might have to move abroad for two months so I wouldn't be able to have a baby next year anyway.”

However, now the star has said there’ll be a baby “soon.” She continued: "hopefully in the next couple of years, but you don’t know until you try — so we’ll see.”
