Louise Minchin: ‘Getting used to my new position’ BBC Breakfast star says amid new move

Lousie Minchin, 51, is a firm favourite on BBC Breakfast alongside her co-star Dan Walker, 43. But the newsreader has since taken on another venture in addition to her morning role.

In view of her 49,000 Instagram followers, Louise shared a photo where she revealed the big news.

The BBC favourite wrote: “Very excited as @triathannie and I have a new podcast @herspirituk to try and keep us all healthy and happy which seems especially important right now. Our first guest is the wonderful @drzoewilliams.”

Louise will be hosting her new podcast titled Her Spirit alongside triathlete Annie Emmerson.

The pair discussed ways people can remain healthy and fit during the current UK lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Fans flocked to comment on the news, with many taking the opportunity to congratulate the BBC Breakfast star.

One person said: “Wonderful podcast- worth a listen as we are in lockdown.”

A third person added: “Downloaded and can’t wait to listen during my turbo session.”

The big news comes after Louise made a surprising return to Twitter yesterday after taking some time away from social media.

The small-screen star admitted she was “still getting used to her new position” on the BBC Breakfast sofa.

Both herself and colleague Dan have been practising social distancing amid the coronavirus crisis.

The UK public have been warned to be at least two metres apart from others to halt the spread of the virus.

In view of her 176,000 followers, Louise uploaded a snap of the BBC Breakfast studios.

She penned: “Good morning, I am still getting used to my new position on the @BBCBreakfast sofa and trying to hide my breakfast.”

Fans were quick to comment on the post, as one person said: “Stay safe, you and Dan are doing a brilliant job.”

Another person quipped: “You and @mrdanwalker are still doing an amazing job though. Thank you @BBCBreakfast.”

As COVID-19 worsens, the British public are being advised to remain at home.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has enforced a nationwide lockdown, with only key workers being able to attend their places of employment.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am.
