Cheryl in talks for Girls Aloud reunion after The Greatest Dancer gets axed

Rumours of a Girls Aloud reunion have been swirling in the run-up to their 20-year anniversary, so fans will be delighted to hear Cheryl Tweedy is in talks to get back on stage with the iconic girl band.

The five-piece split in 2013, with Cheryl, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh remaining close, while Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding went their separate ways.

The different camps have had their fair share of beef over the years, but an insider has told new! magazine Cheryl is now ready to put the past behind them and get on board with plans to reunite in 2022.

“Cheryl is in talks to make a dramatic return to Girls Aloud and bury the hatchet with Nadine so they can tour again,” our source revealed. “Being in lockdown and having time to reflect on what her next big step will be, Cheryl has opened her mind to working with the girls again.”

Last week, Nadine, 34, opened up about reuniting with Cheryl, 36, Kimberley, 38, Sarah, 38, and Nicola, 34, during a chat on Angela Scanlon’s Thanks A Million podcast.

“There’s been loads of conversations and people now are getting in contact, like, ‘What do we do?’ It’s still early,” she said.

In March, Kimberley also teased, “Everybody is busy at the moment, but I have a lot of love for all the girls.”

And according to our source, it’s Kimberley who’s been at the heart of plans to bring the band back together and who’s in constant talks with Cheryl.

“Cheryl has been really focused on her own solo work and being a mum for the past few years,” our mole said. “But she’s been talking loads to Kimberley over the phone and they have started to look at a big comeback as a real project.”

Our source added, “The timing is perfect as it would mean they can have a new album out next year and then tour a year later, at the start of 2022, to celebrate two decades after they were formed.”

Cheryl’s schedule will also be clear as it’s been confirmed her latest TV project The Greatest Dancer will not be returning for a third series.

Relations between the girls appeared to hit an all-time low when Nadine claimed she was never best pals with her bandmates, saying in 2011, “They’re not my friends… I wouldn’t socialise with them outside of work.”

But it seems that in recent years any bad feeling between Cheryl and Nadine has been put to bed.

Speaking in March, Nadine explained, “Cheryl emailed me recently and I bumped into Kimberley a few weeks ago as well, which was lovely. I haven’t seen Sarah or Nicola in a long time, but everything remains very cordial.” She added, “We’re not best mates, it’s just the way it’s always been.”

Come on ladies, make it happen!
