A man who witnessed the aftermath of the incident told Nine News Melbourne he had gone to the TAB to place a bet when he noticed the service station had been cordoned off by police.
Dean, who did not provide his surname, said he was shocked to hear an assault had allegedly occurred in the family-friendly area.
“I just turned up here at the TAB, and I’d just seen it was all sealed off at the front of here at 7-Eleven. I thought it was a robbery or something,” he said.
Forensic officers spent most of the early hours of Tuesday afternoon scouring the convenience store, talking to staff and taking photographs of the scene.
