  • Taking to TikTok, she said she was on a flight to California when she was groped
  • She said the man sitting behind her reached through seat to touch her breasts
  • She took a video of incident but claimed she was told to ‘sit down and be quiet’

A woman claimed she was groped by a man sitting behind her on a Spirit Airlines plane but said she was told by flight attendants to ‘sit down and stay quiet’.

The 18-year-old claimed she was on an early morning flight to California with her family when the man sitting behind her kept touching her arms and breasts.

She took to TikTok last week, posting under the username @mobilesushibar, to share a video of the incident, which showed a man’s hand reaching through the gap in the seat towards her.

The caption read: ‘The man was like 50-60s and I was so uncomfy @spiritairlines #fyp#foryou #harassmentawareness.’

In the clip, the teenager is seen sitting on a window seat and leaning on the armrest when a hand appears around the back of the seat.

She quickly moves away from the side of the seat, showing the man’s hand grasping at air between the seat gap.

The woman said she showed the shocking video to everyone around her as well as the flight attendants but claimed she was told to ‘sit down and stay quiet’.

A voiceover explained: ‘On my flight to California the man behind kept touching my arms and boobs.

‘And when I confronted him and showed the video to everyone around me and the flight attendants I was told to sit down and stay quiet.

‘F you spirit airlines.’

In a series of follow-up videos, she explained that she had boarded the plane at 6am with her family, who were all placed in separate seats around the plane.

She said she was meant to sit in the aisle seat but swapped with a woman who said she could have the window seat if she wanted.

While she was reading her book before take-off, she said she felt a slight touch on the side of her breast, as if something was ‘caressing’ her.

She continued: ‘I wonder what this feeling could be, it was really subtle, and I reached my hand over and touched his finger tips.’

The teenager said the man’s hand moved away and she text her sister, who was sitting elsewhere on the plane, to say that she was being groped.

She explained: ‘I realised that the man behind me is touching me, so I move my arm out of the way.

‘I thought it would stop there because he knows that I know that he was touching me because our fingertips literally touched.’

After a few minutes, she said she resumed her position but claimed he tried to touch her again, which was when she realised he was ‘trying to reach for my boob’.

She said she then decided to video the incident because she didn’t want to let the ‘disgusting’ man ‘get away’ with ‘harassing her’.

The woman claimed she sat there for an hour while he harassed her in order to catch his actions on camera to show the flight attendants.

When she showed the video to members of staff, she claimed the man tried to deny it and she was told to ‘please calm down, sit down, be quiet’.

She added: ‘That made me really upset that no one cared that I was going through that for so long.

‘The fact that I had to sit there to prove this just speaks a lot, speaks volumes.’

The woman received floods of supportive messages from concerned TikTok users, with many people urging her to file a lawsuit against Spirit Airlines.

One person commented: ‘@spiritairlines what are you going to do about this?!? This is APPALLING!!!’

Another fumed: ‘I want to break his fingers’

While a third said: ‘You’ve got a good lawsuit on your hands. I’m so sorry this happened to you.’

And a fourth penned: ‘I’d definitely lodge a complaint. Your safety is compromised and they made you sit there instead of moving you.’

A fifth wrote: ‘I’m so sorry this happened to you. I hope you’re doing ok.’
