Will Boris Johnson evict Larry the Cat from Downing Street?

This could be a cat-astrophe!

Larry the Cat, the “Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office” who has lived at 10 Downing Street for eight years, could soon get the boot — as new UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson wants to get a dog.

During an address to staff, the Tory leader announced this week that he would like to get a pooch in what was perhaps a warning signal to the brown and white cat.

While staffers responded with a resounding “yes” to the plan, Larry appeared to be less enthused about the new roommate.

On his unofficial Twitter account, the tabby replied to the news, tweeting “HELL NO.”

Johnson is in the process of moving into the historic building, where a moving van was spotted Thursday, and expected to make it home by the end of next week, The Sun reported.

Larry — who has become a political fixture and celebrity in his own right — outlasted two prime ministers, David Cameron and Theresa May, after moving to the residence in 2011.

Downing Street’s official site said Larry was recruited to his cabinet position from Battersea Dogs & Cats Home on recommendation due to his mouse-catching skills.

His responsibilities include “greeting guests to the house, inspecting security defenses and testing antique furniture for napping quality.”

“His day-to-day responsibilities also include contemplating a solution to the mouse occupancy of the house,” the site said. “Larry says this is still ‘in tactical planning stage.’”

His supporters have taken to social media this week to express concern about his living arrangements.

“God save the cat,” tweeted one user.

Others suggested the news of the dog was ploy to send Larry running scaredy-cat.

“Protect Larry the Cat. He is the last bastion of sanity in government,” tweeted another user. “The dog is clearly an attempt to undermine his sterling work as the stoic feline backbone of the nation.”

Another tweeted that May — who announced her resignation in May — won’t be the only one to move out this year. “Speculation’s rife that he’s about to resign from his longstanding position as No 10’s Chief Mouser,” the Twiter user wrote.
