Wild boars surround woman and snatch her shopping in supermarket car park

A woman was mugged of her food shopping by a pack of hungry wild boars as she came out of a supermarket in Rome.

The boars ripped the shopping bag out of her hands and ate all the food in a flagrant daylight robbery.

The incident, which went viral on social media, has reignited concerns about the rising number of boars in the city.

In the film, four adult and two baby boars are seen surrounding the woman who tries to bat them away with her bag.

She tries to move to the driver’s side of her car and get in but soon loses her grasp on her shopping bag.

The boars then tear it to pieces and make off with several items while some of the younger members of the pack tuck straight in.

Native to much of Eurasia and North Africa, wild boars can weigh over 220lbs when fully grown and run at speeds in excess of 30mph.

The size and power of the animals make them potentially dangerous to humans although in this incident they reportedly left the car park after finishing their stolen meal.

Boar sightings have been going up in Italy during the pandemic with homeowners reporting their gardens and bins being raided by the animals looking for food.

Hunting the country’s 2million wild boar has been banned during lockdown, allowing numbers to swell ever higher.

They are believed to be responsible for around 10,000 road accidents a year while farmers have complained about the boars wrecking their land.
