Tributes have been paid to a ‘wonderful and loving’ mother and her baby son who were found dead at a house in Cumbria.

Natalie Kane, 27, and her one-year-old son Harry, were found by police officers at an address in Wellington Row, Whitehaven, at around 2.52pm on December 30 after concerns were raised for the welfare of a woman.

Neighbours near the property claimed they heard running water just before Natalie and Harry were found.

But Cumbria Constabulary have said police are not treating the deaths as suspicious.

Today a neighbour said: ‘She was a lovely lass and absolutely doted on that little boy, he was beautiful and this is such a tragedy.

‘The police haven’t told us what happened, just that Natalie and Harry were found dead in her flat.

‘There was nothing alarming beforehand, the only unusual thing was that there seemed to be water constantly running down the waste pipe.

‘It sounded as though a bath or sink had perhaps been overflowing.

‘The police were asking neighbours if they had seen Natalie and the next thing I knew there were police officers and paramedics running into the flat.

‘When they told us they’d both died it was heartbreaking.’

And another friend described Natalie as a ‘wonderful and loving mother who lived for her little boy.’

Natalie and her son were found dead their house Whitehaven on December 30.

A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: ‘There are no suspicious circumstances at this time, and the coroner has been contacted.’

A balloon release has now been planned in Natalie’s home town of Maryport, Cumbria, in tribute to her and Harry on January 7.

Natalie’s friends have also set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the Women Out West charity – which had previously helped Natalie.

A message on the fundraising page read: ‘After the tragic news and sudden loss it’s only in our best wishes to give Natalie and Harry the best send off possible.

‘We would like to give Natalie’s family a big help by contributing to this as this is what they deserve.

‘We’re not asking for the full amount but every little helps and if were to receive more than expected Natalie’s brother Shane’s chosen charity is Women Out West.

‘This Charity helped Natalie out so much and Shane is so pleased that they were there for Natalie that this is the best way to say thank you. ‘
