Tragedy as girl, 4, is killed in house fire over Bank Holiday weekend

A four-year-old girl has died in a severe house fire in Wales over the long Bank Holiday weekend.

Alysia Salisbury was killed when a blaze broke out in Pembrokeshire late last night.

The little girl, hailed by her loved ones as a ‘beautiful daughter and sister’, died at the scene despite efforts by emergency services.

Dyfed-Powys police said the girl’s family are being supported by specialist officers and ‘request privacy at this difficult time’.

Police were called to a residence the Pontyglasier area, a village near Crymych, shortly before 10pm yesterday for reports of a house fire.

Officers are investigating the cause of the fire and the coroner has been alerted of Alysia’s death. Police have not said if her cause of death has been determined yet. 

‘Our thoughts are with the family and the local community at this tragic time,’ DCI Llyr Williams said in a press release this afternoon. 

‘HM Coroner has been informed and officers will now work with colleagues form the fire service to establish the cause of the fire.

‘The family request privacy at this difficult time.’

Dyfed-Powys Police were still at the scene late this morning as they probe the incident, The Pembrokeshire Herald reported. Officers are expected to continue their investigation throughout the day. 

It comes after first responders worked diligently throughout the night to extinguish the blaze. Multiple fire services, police units and paramedics attended the scene. A police drone was also used at the scene.

A representative from the Welsh Ambulance Service told MailOnline that it sent a rapid response vehicle and an emergency ambulance to the scene.  Crews were supported by the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service. 

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Welsh Air Ambulance and the Urban Search and Rescue Team were among those who attended the scene. 

The operation also saw fire crews from Crymych, Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn, Whitland and Fishguard in attendance, with specialist kit including a turntable ladder from Haverfordwest and a water bowser from Milford Haven.
