Teenage driver is killed in head-on horror smash after ploughing his VW Polo into on-coming taxi carrying seven passengers

  • The teen collided head-on with a taxi in the early hours of the morning in Surrey 
  • There were seven other passengers crammed into his VW Polo when he crashed
  • Two of the boys in the teen’s car suffered serious injuries and remain in care 
  • Surrey Police are appealing for information about the crash in Tongham  

A teenager has died after crashing into a taxi head on while carrying seven other passengers in Surrey. 

The young driver ploughed his Volkswagen Polo into the cab, which was travelling in the opposite direction, in the early hours of this morning on Oxenden Road in Tongham. 

Seven other passengers were crammed into the small five seater car, and were all taken to hospital following the crash at around 1:00am. 

Two of the boys, one of whom was travelling in the front passenger seat, suffered serious injuries and remain in care. 

The young driver ploughed his Volkswagen Polo into the cab, which was travelling in the opposite direction, in the early hours of this morning on Oxenden Road in Tongham

The taxi driver, who was not carrying passengers at the time of the crash, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries. 

Surrey Police are appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the crash. 

‘We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Tongham earlier today (26 September)’, Detective Sergeant Kani Barawi said.  

‘Our thoughts remain with the families of the boys involved in this tragic incident, which has left one teenager dead and two more in a serious condition in hospital.

‘We are working hard to establish the circumstances of the crash and would appeal to anyone with any information to contact us straightaway.’
