Student finds flat completely covered in pigeon poo after he forgot to shut window as he left halls for home in March

A UNIVERSITY student who left his room in a hurry before the coronavirus lockdown was shocked when he returned this week and found it had been covered in pigeon poo.

Oluwageorge Johnson, 20, from North London, left his student digs at Nottingham Trent University days before the country was put under lockdown.

He received an email last week from university staff saying they had heard noises coming from his room, so went to check and found the mess the birds had made.

Staff found pigeon droppings inside the property, eggs in the sink and a little chick in Oluwageorge's flat in the city centre.

Oluwageorge, a media and communications student, said: "I just wish I hadn't seen it myself. Then I might be able to sleep at night.

"I wanted to go back to university last week but I'm going to wait a bit now.

"I'm never leaving a window open again.

"Coronavirus had been about so my parents turned up to take me back home.

"I left my window open and I was gone for six months.

"I'd left some random stuff behind that I didn't need like a toaster and clothes that I wouldn't be wearing over the summer."

Last week the Londoner was sent an email from staff at the university accomodation.

He explained: "I had an email saying that staff had heard noises coming from my room so went to check and found the mess the pigeons had made.

"My sneakers were covered in poo and my toaster.

"I'm just glad I didn't walk in and find it. That would have been horrible.

"It's an opportunity to buy some new clothes but it's a shame that some of it's gone."
