Sarah Wellgreen's ex-boyfriend in court charged with murdering missing mum-of-five whose body has still not been found

Ben Lacomba, 38, appeared at Medway Magistrates Court in Kent via video link this morning.

He spoke only to confirm his name, age and address and was remanded in custody.

Lacomba will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court this afternoon.

Mum-of-five Sarah vanished on October 9 and has not been seen or heard from since.

Her car was left at her house and there have not been any transactions on her bank or credit cards.

A large-scale police search for her body and her missing iPhone4 remains ongoing today and has seen officers trawl nearby woodland and the River Thames.

December 14 was her 47th birthday and she has also missed the birthday of one of her children since she went missing.

Lacomba was re-arrested yesterday on suspicion of her murder having previously been held in connection with the missing person investigation.

Police continue to search the home the former couple shared in New Ash Green, Kent, today.

Yesterday, Lacomba's taxi was removed from outside the property by police.

A Kent Police spokesman said last night: "Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, with authorisation from the Crown Prosecution Service, have charged Ben Lacomba, aged 38, from Bazes Shaw, New Ash Green, with the murder of Sarah Wellgreen.

"Mr Lacomba, who was arrested on October 16 in connection with the investigation, was re-arrested on December 20 2018."
