Salt Bae brushes off fury over gloating about customer's £140,000 bill by posting video of huge ‘24 karat gold’ steak | The Sun

SALT Bae has shrugged off criticism for bragging about a customer's £140,584 bill by sharing a clip of a massive steak coated in 24 karat gold leaf.

The Turkish chef found himself in hot water this week after boasting about an eye-watering bill a group who dined at his restaurant forked out for amid the worst cost-of-living crisis in decades.

Salt Bae – real name Nusret Gokce – angered his 49 million Instagram followers by posting the receipt with the caption "Quality never expensive".

It revealed the diners spent almost £115,000 on wine alone plus more than £1,000 on a single piece of steak.

The 14 guests responsible for the jaw dropping bill paid £10,000 each for the meal at Salt Bae's Abu Dubai restaurant.

One follower commented: "Seeing this bill and thinking of my patients who cannot afford the cost of their liver transplant makes me sad."

Another said the money would be better spent feeding several thousand starving children, calling it a waste of money.

Many in his comment section added they wouldn't support the chef anymore, calling his post gloating about the massive bill "out of touch".

But Salt Bae has shown he is unbothered by the fury levelled at him and instead has shown off an outrageous chunk of meat covered in gold leaf.

He captioned the short clip: "Federal Bank – 24k gold".
