Police have seized a learner driver’s ‘death trap’ car which they found held together with duct tape.

Officers pulled over the grey Vauxhall Astra yesterday in Telford, Shropshire and found the driver had no insurance.

The front of the vehicle was also wrapped in duct tape, with it messily strewn across the bonnet and the driver’s side front headlight.

West Mercia Police said the car was seized and the motorist reported for driving offences.

‘Turns out as well as the front held on by duct tape, the driver decided not to bother paying for insurance.

West Mercia Police said the car was seized and the motorist reported for driving offences

‘Not only is insurance a legal requirement, they would likely have paid for a proper repair! Seized and reported.’

One social media user tweeted: ‘I hope you can make the case against him stick’.

Another sarcastically wrote: ‘Yeah, that looks safe to drive.’

A third added: ‘Beggars belief. Absolute plank. I wouldn’t want to see how he wraps his Christmas presents as he can’t even stick tape on his car properly.’
