Peru enforces tough measures for Venezuela migrants

Peru says that, after December, it will not offer work permits to the 2,000 Venezuelan migrants that are crossing the border daily, but will keep the border open.

The UN is expecting at least another two million Venezuelans to flee their country in the coming year.

In Peru, immigration officials are cracking down those working without a permit and have said that they will stop issuing new work permits for those fleeing the economic and political crisis in Venezuela.

However, the government says that it still intends to keep the borders open to the estimated 2,000 people crossing the border every day.

Al Jazeera’s Mariana Sanchez reports from Lima, Peru’s capital, on how officials there are enforcing tougher measures for the new arrivals.
