Outrage as mother of ISIS ‘Beatle’ is given £6,000 in legal aid to fight for ‘murderer’ son’s return to UK – The Sun

THE mother of Beatles jihadi El Shafee Elsheikh has been given £5,820 in legal aid to pay for her killer son’s fight to be returned to Britain.

Maha Elgizouli was awarded the sum to challenge the decision to send him to the US, where he could face the death penalty.

Her son and Alexanda Kotey are said to be part of a cell of British jihadis suspected of killing Western captives in Syria.

They were nicknamed The Beatles due to their English accents.

Londoners Elsheikh, 31, and Kotey, 35, are in US custody and have been stripped of their UK citizenship.

If sent to the US, they are expected to face charges including murder, conspiracy to murder and providing support to IS.

They are believed to have beheaded seven British, US and Japanese journalists and aid workers, and a group of Syrian soldiers, in 2014 and 2015, boasting of the butchery in propaganda videos.

Brit aid workers Alan Henning and David Haines were among those killed.

Harry Fletcher, of the Victims’ Rights Campaign, said last night: “It is extraordinary that legal aid is being given to effectively prevent an alleged perpetrator being tried in the country of some of the victims of murder.”
