Muslim school attacked by sick vandals who ripped up the Quran, smashed windows and sprayed graffiti

A MUSLIM school was attacked by sick vandals who ripped up copies of the Quran, smashed windows and sprayed graffiti.

The Bahr Academy in Newcastle was ransacked by the “racist” yobs yesterday evening – marking the second time it had been targeted in three months.

Imam Abdul Muheet, head of the school, said a ladder had been used to smash a window and that copies of the Quran had been vanadalised and "thrown on the floor".

He fumed: "Neighbours near the school had called to say there were people inside and that windows had been smashed.
“We arrived there at 9.20pm to find the individuals still there”.

'RACIST' ATTACK

The imam said he had been left “incredibly upset” by the "racist" attack, the Metro reports.

The incident in Newcastle comes days after five mosques had their windows smashed in Birmingham.

Two men have been arrested in relation to the attacks which came less than a week after a Far Right gunman shot 50 worshippers dead at two mosques in Christchurch.

Bahr Academy, once the set of popular BBC kids drama Byker Grove, was also targeted in January with thugs spraying the words "Moslem terrorists" and on walls.

Northumbria Police believe they know who is responsible for last night’s attack.

Neighbourhood Inspector Alan Davison said: "We believe we have already identified those involved and enquiries into the incident will continue today.

"Our officers will be visiting the Bahr Academy again today and working with them to put further measures in place to try and prevent anything like this happening again.

"High visibility patrols will be taking place around the academy following this incident and anyone with any concerns is encouraged to speak to those officers."
