Shocking footage appears to show the moment a group of armed robbers make off with clothes and a till full of money in broad daylight.

The video, which was taken by a passer-by at the Crown Wharf Retail Park in Walsall, West Midlands, shows a group of masked men loading a getaway car full of clothes along with a till before speeding away.

According to an eyewitness, two of the robbers were armed, one with a machete and the other with a crowbar, during the incident on Monday afternoon.

The men are dressed all in black as they ferry clothes from the Tessuti designer clothes store to their red car, whilst shouting to each other.

Left: The men at the retail park in Walsall were ferrying clothes on hangers from the Tessuti shop to their red car. Right: One of the black hooded men puts piles of the stolen goods into the boot of the car

Among the things stolen are what looks like a pile of black jeans still on the hangers.

When the men have taken what they want, two jump in the front seats as the final man pushes the last items into the boot and gets in the back.

The car then speeds away through the busy car park.

An eyewitness said: ‘I was outside and a red car reversed into a car parking space outside the shop. Some men got out. They left all the doors open and opened the boot.

‘Four men charged into the shop. They were all dressed in black hoodies and one had a crowbar and one had a machete.

The group of men left all the doors open and opened the boot as they made journeys to and from the store

‘As they were coming back towards the car an old man asked them what they were doing and they threatened him with the machete.

‘They went in and out about three times, and on the last time they came they had a till.

‘I was quite shocked, it didn’t seem real, you only see stuff like this on Crimewatch.

‘I was quite scared but just kept my distance.

‘I went into the shop afterwards and the staff were very scared and in shock.’

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: ‘Police are investigating reports of a robbery at a shop in Crown Wharf Retail Park, Wolverhampton Street, Walsall at 2.15pm today (14 October).

‘It is believed a group of masked men armed with weapons ran into the store before taking the contents of the till and items from the shop.

‘Fortunately, no one was injured. Investigations are in the early stages and CCTV is being reviewed.’

Police said today that no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

A spokesman for Tessuti said: ‘We cannot comment on this incident as it is under investigation by the Police. Our priority at this time is the welfare of our colleagues in store.’
