Man arrested after 'throwing Molotov cocktail near synagogue' in Golders Green as cops close off street

A MAN has been arrested after allegedly "throwing a Molotov cocktail near a synagogue" today as cops close off a street.

Cops were called to a synagogue in Golders Green, London at 12.28 this afternoon.



A man who is believed to have set fire to a Molotov cocktail was found in a car and detained.

Met Police said no members of the public or officers are believed to have been injured.

They said in a statement: "Enquiries are ongoing. The man was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences.

"As a precaution, nearby roads have been closed."

A witness told Jewish News: "The police have said it is a 'life and death situation' but we have not heard more information."

CST UK said the incident appeared to not be terror related.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We sent a number of resources, including an ambulance crew, a medic in a car, an incident response officer, and our hazardous area response teams.

"They are now starting to be stood down from the scene." 

Local councillor Alex Prager tweeted that the incident "appears to have involved a molotov cocktail next to a synagogue on the Riding".
