Shocking video has emerged of a lorry driver calling a courier a ‘bl***ie’ during a row in the middle of a busy road.

The footage shows the two men arguing following an incident on the A6 in Ardwick, near Manchester city centre, on Friday evening.

In the video, taken by a passing motorist, the BCD Logistics lorry driver and DPD delivery man are seen hurling insults at each other – while their vehicles remain parked in the road.

The DPD driver is heard saying ‘f***ing idiot’. Moments later, a man in an orange, high-visibility jacket can be heard shouting the word ‘bl***ie’ at the black DPD driver.

The DPD driver, incensed by the racist slur, then runs over to the man. A scuffle breaks out before the courier is seen to walk away.

The lorry driver has since been suspended, while DPD say an ‘amicable agreement’ has been reached between the two firms.

At the start of the video, the DPD driver is heard saying ‘f***ing idiot’. Just moments later, a man in an orange, high-visibility jacket can be heard shouting the word ‘bl***ie’ at the DPD driver.

The DPD driver then runs over to the man before shouting: ‘What did you say?’

The lorry driver replies: ‘You called me an idiot.’ The DPD driver then responds: ‘Say it again, say it again.’

A skirmish ensues between the driver and the DPD Courier. The lorry driver appears to grab onto the DPD worker, who in turn appears to growl and shouts ‘you’re being done for assault’.

Meanwhile, the DPD driver continues to reply ‘say it again, say it again’.

A third man is then seen trying to intervene, to calm the situation down, before the DPD driver returns to his van.

BCD Logistics, a container freight transport company based in Trafford Park, were last night approached for a comment.

The company is aware of the video and that the staff member has been suspended, says National Transport Manager Jim Baker.

‘We are appalled at the video. I am shocked and disgusted,’ he told the Manchester Evening News.

‘Our company has a zero-tolerance policy on this behaviour and the staff member was suspended immediately.

‘We opened a full investigation, which will be carried out. Disciplinary procedures will begin once we have the results of the investigation.

‘We have already been in touch with the company the gentleman works for, DPD.

A DPD spokesperson (pictured: Library image of a DPD van) said: ‘We do not tolerate our drivers being abused for any reason.’

‘We have been fully transparent with them and we are doing our utmost to get this sorted as quickly as possible.

‘We are not hiding behind anything. It’s out there in the open and we’re going to deal with it very strongly.’

A DPD spokesperson said: ‘We do not tolerate our drivers being abused for any reason.

‘We have investigated this incident, spoken to our driver, liaised with the third party’s employer and between us reached an amicable agreement.

‘We are content that this matter is now resolved.’

As of Tuesday morning, July 3, the internal investigation at BCD Logistics continues.
