Husband ‘vows to wait’ for teacher, 35, after she was jailed for six years for sleeping with 15-year-old pupil

  • Married mother-of-three was jailed for six years and two months yesterday

  • Friends revealed her husband Daniel, 38, has promised to wait for her

The husband of a teacher who has been jailed for having sex with her 15-year-old pupil has promised to wait for her.

Married mother-of-three Kandice Barber, 35, was jailed for six years and two months and branded ‘despicable’ by a judge after sleeping with her student.

The supply teacher from Wendover, Buckinghamshire, sent him nude images of herself and later threatened to ‘take him down’ if he told senior staff about their illicit sex encounters.

According to The Sun, her husband Daniel, 38, has vowed to stay with her and his friends claim he is under her ‘spell’.

Friends explained: ‘As far as he is concerned when they got married it was forever and he will be there for Kandice when she comes out of prison.’

While they acknowledged the process had been hard on Daniel, one said they could not understand why he is staying with Barber.

‘No-one would blame him for walking straight out the door after the way she has treated him,’ they added.

The friend also noted that they did not think Daniel was ‘athletic enough’ in bed for Kandice.

They said if Daniel does end up waiting for Barber she will be a ‘very lucky woman’ and that they hope she will learn her lesson.

The latest revelation comes after it was discovered she had dumped the father of her children Carl Greeves after he refused to partner swap.

A close friend revealed Barber became distant from him after he said swinging was ‘not really for me’.

The teacher with a ‘massive sex drive’ left him for their gardener.

The friend told The Sun: ‘Then they went away for a weekend and she said to him, “what about if we get some other people round?”.

‘It was clear she wanted to get her hands on some other men — and she was probably excited by the idea of Carl being with another woman.’

He said no and Barber seemed to be okay with that at the time, but the decision was a ‘turning point in their relationship’ according to the friend.

Barber courted attention from other men during her relationship with Mr Greeves and sex ‘dominated her life’, the friend said.

The friend said: ‘After Carl said no to swinging she seemed more into the attention than ever before. It got to the stage where he started to get suspicious.’

She started an affair with the gardener at her mother’s nursery and she split up from Mr Greeves after he caught them in bed together.

A former partner said Barber never drank or took drugs so sex was her ‘only outlet’.

He told The Sun she would ‘happily do it up to five times a day’ and loved the attention sex gave her.

The ex-boyfriend said he suspected ‘married life didn’t suit her’ and that is why she started looking for sex at school.

Another of Barber’s ex-boyfriends revealed how their relationship ended over her sexual demands, declaring ‘It was too excessive’.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, the former partner, who didn’t want to be named, said details that were revealed during the two trials led him to draw parallels with Barber’s sexual conduct during their time together.

He said: ‘When I heard about the video and picture she’d sent this lad and where they had sexual contact, it reminded me of our relationship. I thought that sounds like Kandice.

‘That was the sort of stuff she was into and it didn’t surprise me at all but what shocked me was that she did it with a kid. I can’t believe how stupid she’s been.’

He met Barber on dating site Plenty of Fish, claiming that their relationship was dominated by her ‘huge sex drive’ with her demanding sex up to six times per day, often in unusual places.

He recalled: ‘She liked doing it outside, sometimes in the car, the garden or in woods. We’d be driving somewhere, and she’d say, “pull over, I’m feeling horny”.

‘It just got too much for me. Everyone has got their personal needs and that sort of stuff got her excited but by the end of it I couldn’t be bothered, I’d just had enough. It was too excessive.’

He added: ‘Kandice is a wonderful girl, a great mother and overall, very law abiding. During our time together she never got so much as a parking ticket.

‘But when it came to sex, she was just incredibly frisky and that’s what got her into all this trouble.’

Jailing Barber at Aylesbury Crown Court yesterday, Recorder Bal Dhaliwal said Barber had ‘acted in gross breach of trust’ and had taken ‘advantage of a child in your care and groomed him for your own sexual gratification’.

She told the teacher: ‘The victim was a 15-year-old boy in his final year at school. You had control and authority over him. He felt drawn in by you due to the compliments, you caused him to engage in sex with you while he was a pupil in your care.

‘You threatened to take him down with you if he reported it. You already had authority over him by virtue of your position but to use threats is beyond despicable.’

Teacher’s internet and phone search history

Kandice Barber’s internet history and phone contents were a big part of both of her trials.

Jurors heard at her first hearing mention a Snapchat folder which was password-protected called ‘My Eyes Only’. Her search history was also flagged as significant by prosecutors.

In September she googled ‘what is the name of someone you are having an affair with?’. She went on to look under the terms ‘alibi’, and ‘when you have a plan of where you have been’.

Barber had claimed she had been trying to work out the name of Fatal Attraction, a film about a married man having an affair with a woman who becomes obsessed with him.

The teacher also looked for ‘a lie of where you have been’ as well as ‘good secluded areas’ and ‘Holiday Inn, Wycombe’.

Barber had bombarded the then 15-year-old pupil with messages, including one where she asked him ‘do you like boobs or bum?’ – and sent him a photo of herself on a bed surrounded by sex toys.

But she was found out after a topless picture she had sent her victim was circulated around so much it ended up being passed to the headteacher of their school.

The judge added: ‘From the point you entered Snapchat to his phone, non-sexual communication to win his trust to use that trust to arrange a meeting where sexual activity took place.

‘There was a significant degree of planning, that planning is borne out of Google searches which included “good secluded areas” and a “Holiday Inn Wycombe”.

‘You took all action that you could to ensure he did not report the matter and you ensured it was disposed of asking him to deleted it.

‘You are a mother to children aged 10, 14 and 16 years, a stepmother to two others, and a wife to a very supportive husband. Depriving you of your liberty will have a devastating effect on your children and family.’

Prosecutor David Povall summarised a statement from the victim, who said he faced stress and anxiety as a result of the incidents and going through two trials.

He continued: ‘He was at school and it was through his presence at school that he came into contact with this defendant, who was working there in a position of trust.

‘He feels that his GCSE results were not as good as they should have been, in part as a result of the impact of these incidents on him.

‘As a result of his poorer-than-expected GCSE results he had to leave the good school he was attending and go to a sixth-form college where none of his friends were.

‘In summary, he says that the defendant … who was supposed to help students make the right decisions instead helped him to make all the wrong decisions.’

This was Barber’s second trial, after she was convicted in September of sending the boy topless pictures of herself on Snapchat between September and October 2018 but acquitted of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity while in a position of trust.

The supply teacher was found guilty of one count of causing or inciting a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity. She was found not guilty of two further counts of the same charge.
