Husband kills baby daughter and stabs wife before blaming knife rampage on mother-in-law 'stress'

A DAD killed his 10-month-old daughter and tried to murder his wife before blaming it on the "stress" of living next door to his mother-in-law.

Barak Ben Ami, from Israel, murdered the tot and also stabbed his wife and three-year-old daughter in a knife rampage.

The 35-year-old claimed the attack was triggered by his mother-in-law visiting the family home last March, who helped his three-year-old daughter into a costume for Purim – a Jewish festival.

It's reported the violence erupted after his wife's mum left the house.

Ben Ami and his family had been living in a housing unit joined to his wife's parents in Hod Hasharon, reports the Jerusalem Post.

The lack of personal space reportedly caused Ben Ami stress.

In April 2020, he was charged with one count of aggravated murder and two counts of attempted murder.

"The defendant’s violent, aggressive and brutal acts, during which he did not hesitate before attacking and stabbing his daughters and wife many times, all over an inane argument, demonstrate his danger to public safety,” prosecutors wrote, reports the Times of Israel.

He pleaded guilty to the murder of his 10-month-old daughter at a hearing on Sunday at the Lod District Court.

Ben Ami was handed a life sentence for the murder, as well as an additional 20 years for seriously injuring his wife and other daughter.

Ahead of his sentencing, Liron Dror, Ben Ami’s ex-wife, told reporters she wanted justice.

"We have waited for this day for a year and a half," she said.

"The morning of the murder we could not cry out, but this is the moment where we are crying out for help and asking for a harsh punishment for our murderer, who has not taken responsibility for his actions.

"This is not a father, this is a monster. I hope he will remain in jail for the rest of his life so that we will not need to live under a cloud of fear."
