Hunt for Louisiana gunman Dakota Theriot, 21, who ‘killed his parents, girlfriend and her family in shooting spree’

Dakota Theriot is the "prime suspect" in the deaths of his parents, Keith and Elizabeth Theriot, both 50, at their home in Gonzales, Louisiana.

He is also accused of killing his girlfriend, Summer Ernest, 20, her dad Billy Ernest, 43, and her brother Tanner Ernest, 17, at their mobile home in Livingston Parish, The Advocate reported.

Theriot is reportedly driving a grey 2004 Dodge pickup truck with a license plate number of C583809, which authorities believe he took from the Ernest family.

'YELLING MATCHES' WITH PARENTS

A motive in the killings has not been revealed, but local papers reported that Theriot was recently kicked out of his parents’ home following a series of heated rows.

Neighbour Michael Logan said he had heard arguing and "yelling matches" coming from the home.

Theriot is wanted for at least two counts of first-degree murder, illegal use of a weapon and home invasion in connection to both shootings.

He is on the run and has yet to be charged in Livingston.

Theriot is accused of shooting dead his girlfriend and her family members shortly before 9am on Saturday.

'SHOT DEAD NEW GIRLFRIEND'

Crystal DeYoung, Billy Ernest's sister, told AP she believes Theriot had just started dating her niece, Summer Ernest.

"My family met him last weekend at a birthday party and didn't get good vibes from him," DeYoung said.

“She said she wasn't sure how her niece and Theriot met, but that she believed the relationship was relatively new.

"My mom is a good judge of character and she just thought he was not good," DeYoung said.

DeYoung said she skipped the birthday party and didn't meet Theriot herself.

She revealed that two of her brother’s other young children were also at the home when the shooting took place.

The seven-year-old child is understood to have picked up the baby and fled the home before going to a neighbour’s to beg for help.

Shortly after killing three members of the Ernest family, Theriot is accused of driving 25 miles south to Ascension Parish where he shot his parents.

VICTIM SPOKE TO COPS BEFORE PASSING AWAY

Deputies arrived at the scene and were able to interview one of the victims before both died.

Cops said that information led authorities to zero in on the couple's son as a suspect.

A Facebook page appearing to belong to Dakota Theriot was filled with defensive and sometimes angry posts.

He shared someone else's post in June that said "wish i could clear my mind jus for one day" (sic) with a sad face emoji.

In May, he reposted something saying: "If you have a problem with me, tell me. Not everyone else."

He also shared someone else's post that said: "I don't care what people say about me I know who I am and I don't have to prove anything to anyone."

Theriot had some run-ins with law enforcement in other parishes that he described as misdemeanor-type incidents that did not include violence.

Cops warned the 21-year-old is armed and dangerous, saying: "Anybody he comes into contact with could be a target."
