Girl, 16, shot in head in front of fellow pupils in school’s bicycle shed
A teenage girl was gunned down in front of horrified classmates at a school in the Netherlands.
The 16-year-old girl was reportedly shot in a school bicycle shed at around 1pm Tuesday outside the Rotterdam Design College.
Police in the Dutch city have arrested a 31-year-old man in connection with the incident who is believed to have been in a relationship with the girl.
Witnesses said they heard seven or eight loud bangs.
One 14-year old student told Dutch-language website AD : "At first I thought she had fallen or that she had been beaten. Only later did I see that she had been shot at.
"She was lying on her stomach."
Following the incident, students were told to go home after teachers informed parents about the incident.
Several students who witnessed the crime are now being cared for by school authorties.
The area outside the school was cordoned off as police searched the area and a nearby Black Opal car.
The shooting comes just days after the killing of 21-year-old American student Sarah Papenheim.
Rotterdam’s Erasmus University student was stabbed to death in her apartment.
A man has now been arrested in connection with the incident.
