Friends of a young couple who both died within hours of each other have raised over $25,000 in only one day to send their bodies home.

Jason Francis, 29, was run over by a teenage pizza delivery driver as he lay on the road outside his Perth home after a day of drinking on Saturday night.

Less than 24 hours later his girlfriend Alice Robinson took her own life, her body found at a Mount Hawthorn home under ‘non-suspicious’ circumstances.

The heartbroken families of the pair, who had moved to Australia together only months ago, all reside overseas.

To help get their bodies back to the UK, the couple’s former rugby club launched a GoFundMe page, which has seen 498 people donate so far.

Ms Robinson had been waiting for Mr Francis to return home only metres from where he died

‘Help get Jase and Alice home,’ the synopsis of the page reads.

‘Although they felt like family to us all their true families live in the UK. We have set up this Gofundme page to help the Francis and Robinson families with any costs that might be incurred in sending their loved ones home.’

Alice’s distraught mother Dawn posted a heart-wrenching tribute to Facebook on Monday.

Mr Francis had been out drinking with friends on Saturday night.

A taxi was ordered to take home the 29-year-old and the driver dropped him off near the man’s home, WA Today reported.

The man, who had only recently moved from the UK to Australia with his girlfriend-of-eight-years, laid down on the curb outside his Stanley Street apartment at Scarborough with his legs partially stretched out on the road.

At about 8pm a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver reversed a Volkswagen Jetta, without seeing Mr Francis.

Neighbour Matt Pilat said three girls witnessed the incident.

He said they had tried to warn the driver about the sprawled out man on the side of the road.

‘I heard them say that someone had been hit and they got out and called 000,’ he said.

With bystanders stunned, Mr Pilat and the driver performed CPR on the man under the direction of the ambulance officer on the phone.

Parents have shared their anguish after their daughter Alice Robinson (pictured) took her own life hours after a car ran down her partner

‘We didn’t stop CPR until the cops got there and then they took over,’ the 33-year-old said.

Two ambulances arrived on scene and the defibrillator was used on the man twice, according to Mr Pilat.

Mr Francis was transported to Royal Perth Hospital, but later died from his injuries.

Major Crash is now investigating the fatality and ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash or seen Mr Francis to come forward.

Mr Francis’ partner Alice Robinson was at the couple’s home when the accident happened.

She was later at Mr Francis’ bedside before he passed away.

Friends of Ms Robinson tried to console her but couldn’t get in contact with her following the death.

They had expressed concerns over their friend because she didn’t answer her phone.

Mr Francis was a keen rugby union player for the Cottesloe Rugby Union Football Club, whose president shared an emotional tribute.

‘Jase and Alice had only been at the club for a short time but had already ingrained themselves into the 3rd grade and 4th grade families,’ club president Sam Diamond wrote.

‘They could both be found at the multitude of offseason BBQ’s where Jase would always do his best impression of a competitive eater whilst Alice filled our hearts with her infectious laugh.

‘These are two beautiful souls that we have lost far to (sic) early, and were loved like family.’

Mr Francis’ club back in the UK also paid tribute to the young sportsman, remembering him as being generous.

‘Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting and talking to Jason, or Franna as his mates called him, would all agree he was one of the most genuine and down to earth gentleman that you could ever wish to meet.’

Mr Francis and Ms Robinson, originally from England, had lived in Perth for less than a year after travelling the world together on holiday.

The young couple had been together for eight years and had just moved to Australia from Shropshire in England less than a year ago.

They only had each other in Australia, friends say, with both of their families living overseas.
