Elvis Presley is ALIVE as The King's corpse was a body double made of wax, wacky conspiracy theory claims

The Rock and Roll legend died on August 16, 1977, aged 42, after ballooning in weight and suffering a heart attack on the toilet.

But a section of online superfans and armchair sleuths reckon The King is still alive.

And one bizarre theory claims an iconic photo taken of Elvis in his open coffin proves his death was a hoax.

Gail Giorgio, author of Is Elvis Alive, explained the idea during an episode of TV Land: Myths and Legends.

In the recirculating footage, she said: “The famous National Enquirer picture does not look like Elvis Presley.

“Many people said it looked like a wax dummy.

“There were beads of sweat – dead bodies do not sweat.

“Wax will bead up in the sun. It was an August afternoon.”

FBI files 'show Elvis joined witness protection programme'

Elvis is alive after being put into the witness protection programme, a book bizarrely claims.

American author Gail Brewer-Giorgio, 79, is behind the bestselling book 'Is Elvis Alive?'.

In it she claims the singer faked his death to escape a group known as 'The Fraternity'.

Ms Brewer-Giorgio claims she has proof (see pic) he enlisted as an undercover FBI agent to infiltrate the organisation.

However, she says was put into witness protection by the government when he was discovered as a mole.

She revealed to Time Magazine in 2017: “Elvis faked his death because he was going to be killed and there was no doubt about it.”

The FBI does hold 683 records concerning Elvis, including documents regarding extortion attempts.

However, the latter does not mention anything about 'The Fraternity', reports Express.co.uk.

WACKY THEORIES

The claim is just one of a string by Elvis “truthers” – people who are convinced the music icon is still alive.

Others have included a theory that the Blue Suede Shoes singer was captured on a secret recording admitting he was living on an island four years after he died.

And fans claimed to have spotted their idol at his own posthumous 84th birthday last year.

Some conspiracists have claimed that Elvis faked his own death in order to disappear and live anonymously.

They believe that a clue pointing to this is a black helicopter that landed in Graceland hours before his body was found.

Theorists are adamant that the star was picked up and flown to Bermuda, where he lay low when he became tired of fame.

Among the stranger theories is one that he appeared in 1990 cult film Home Alone.

A bearded man in the background of one scene bears a resemblance to the King.
