A father has blasted a delivery company after one of its drivers was caught on CCTV throwing a £50 scooter he bought his daughter for Christmas over a wall.

Footage shows the scooter flying over Paul Hepworth’s 8ft wall at the family home in Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear, before crashing into garden furniture and landing in his garden courtyard.

The driver is then seen jumping up to see over the wall and take a photo to show the parcel had been delivered.

The scooter survived the 8ft drop, but its packaging was badly scuffed, ripped and dented, The Sun reported.

Father-of-four Mr Hepworth, 41, said the driver ‘could have hit one of the kids’ and has called on delivery firm DHL to discipline him.

‘It’s a Christmas present, you don’t expect it to be thrown ten foot in the air to land on concrete paving slabs,’ he told The Sun.

‘This bloke needs to be spoken to, to me that is total gross misconduct.’

Mr Hepworth said his wife Victoria, 37, was at home when the parcel was delivered on Wednesday. She received a text from DHL to say the parcel had been delivered and signed for.

DHL apologised and said their driver’s conduct falls below their standards. A spokesman said: ‘Clearly this incident is unacceptable and falls way below our normal high standard of customer service.

‘We are investigating the issue with the driver involved and we have been in touch with Mr Hepworth to offer our apologies.’
