David Beckham could face court after 'being spotted using his mobile phone while driving his £200k Bentley'

The charge comes fewer than eight weeks after a speeding rap against him was dismissed on a technicality.

Former England skipper Becks, 43, is said to have been spotted making a call in his £200,000 motor in November by an onlooker who called police.

It is understood CCTV footage of the alleged incident in central London has been obtained.

The case is set to go before Bromley magistrates in South London on March 19.

He has the option of admitting the alleged offence by letter or contesting the charge at a public hearing.

Dad-of-four Beckham, worth more than £300 million, faces six points on his licence and a £2,000 fine if convicted.

BECKS APPEAL

But far more damaging in financial terms would be the prospect of another huge dent in his public image.

If there is a hearing he will not have to attend and could leave it to his lawyer to defend him — as he did with his speeding charge in September.

He was represented then by £10,000-a-day lawyer Nick “Mr Loophole” Freeman.

Becks was accused of driving at 59mph in a 40mph zone on the A40 in Paddington, West London, in 23 January last year.

But in September District Judge Barbara Barnes dismissed the case at Wimbledon magistrates court.

An assistant at the Bentley office where the car was lease was “100 per cent confident” the speeding notice did not arrive until the day after the 14-day window.

Road safety charity Brake accused Becks of “shirking his responsibility” by avoiding prosecution.

And even Mr Freeman admitted his client probably should have been convicted from “a moral standpoint.”
