Clothing firm offers anti-slash Kevlar-lined clothing to protect people from Britain's knife crime epidemic

The £100 tops offer protection from the types of horrifying knife crime that is gripping the nation.

A video on the Bladerunner website shows a top being repeatedly slashed with a super-sharp craft knife but the Kevlar interior remains intact.

The UK firm also offers scarves and gloves, as well as traditional police-style anti-stab vests.

One hoodie – adorned with a razor-wire design – costs £96.60.

The firm’s website says: “This season’s must-have statement Razor wire designed hooded top with blade cut and puncture resistance up to Level 2.

“Bladerunner anti-slash clothing is designed to be street cool and nothing fits the bill better than this really cool hoodie.

“To look at, or to touch no-one would ever realise that this is a cut-resistant item, which why it is ideal for security personnel, undercover officers or just anyone who wants to look good.

ANTI-SLASH WEAR

“Please note this hooded top is not designed to protect against stab, tear or abrasion.”

Prime Minister Theresa May has come under-fire this week for claiming there was “no correlation” between a rise in knife crime and lower numbers of police.

However, there is "some link" between falling police numbers and a rise in violent crime, the UK's top police officer, Cressida Dick, said.

The Met Police commissioner was talking a day after the PM’s controversial comments.

It comes after two 17-year-olds were killed in separate stabbings in London and Greater Manchester at the weekend.

Ms Dick told LBC Radio the deaths show "how big of a challenge this is" and that it is not a London-only issue.

Jodie Chesney was killed in an east London park as she played music with friends, while Yousef Ghaleb Makki was stabbed to death in the village of Hale Barns, near Altrincham.

A 17-year-old boy – who cannot be named for legal reasons – has been charged with the murder of Mr Makki, Greater Manchester Police said.

A second 17-year-old boy has been charged with assisting an offender and possession of a bladed article.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police said a man had been arrested in Leicester in connection with the murder of Ms Chesney.
