Boy, 17, dies and man seriously injured in brutal assault outside Odeon cinema in Derbyshire

A TEENAGER has been killed and a man seriously injured in a savage attack outside a cinema in Derbyshire.

The 17-year-old who has not been named, died at the scene despite attempts to save him.

Derbyshire Police said officers and ambulance crews were called to an alleyway at the side of the Odeon cinema in Swadlincote, just before 10.40pm on Saturday.

Another 20-year-old man was also found with serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he was in a stable condition.

A murder investigation has been launched and an area around The Pipeworks retail and leisure park will remain closed off for most of the day while further inquiries are carried out.

There will be an increased police presence and anyone with concerns are encouraged to speak to officers in the area.

Police are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been on Rink Drive, around the rear of the Odeon cinema or Morrisons, and noticed any people in the area or who have dashcam footage.

Anyone in the area between around 10pm and 11pm on Saturday who witnessed an assault, noticed suspicious activity, or has any information which could help the investigation is asked to contact police on 101, via the force website or social media.
