Blaze mum Mairead Philpott enjoys Christmas karaoke session at cushy bail hostel bash

MONSTER mum Mairead Philpott belted out Westlife song Flying Without Wings in a Christmas karaoke session at her cushy bail hostel.

She joined the singalong at a festive knees-up with party games including bingo.

The 39-year-old, jailed for her part in a blaze which killed her six children, also opened donated gifts, ordered crisps, snacks and chocolates and tucked into a three-course Christmas meal.

A source said: “Philpott and others have had a really comfortable and cushy Christmas — it is quite shocking.

"She enjoyed karaoke and sang Flying Without Wings, which is one of her favourite songs and a reference to her having her freedom.”

Philpott was released last month after serving eight and a half years for the 2012 blaze she plotted with husband Mick in Derby.

She is on benefits of more than £400 a month and has her rent at the all-female hostel paid.

And staff went out of their way to give residents a Christmas treat.

They set up karaoke with a free-standing microphone for socially distanced singing.

The internet package was also upgraded so the women could enjoy streamed Christmas movies.

Our source added: “They have all been laughing and joking that, although they are in Tier 4, they are the safest women in Britain as they don’t need to go out at all if they don’t want.

"It has all been laid on for them. I dread to think what the cost would be.”
